Sorted! Numeracy - Free edition.

A set of 3 games designed to encourage the use of numeracy skills. These short games can be used at the end of a lesson or during free time - there are several options to adjust the difficulty of the games, and each is played against the computer.

Battling Numbers - a board game where you use your calculator skills to claim spaces on the board. Each time you claim a space by placing a flag, you score a point. If your space is surrounded by other flags, you score an additional point for each of these flags. Three dice are used to give you the numbers, the basic calculator functions are used to add, subtract, multiply or divide these numbers. You can also add brackets for more complicated equations or even use to the power of, if youre feeling brave.
After youve made a move - if you could have come up with a better answer, the computer will show you, encouraging you to think about how best to use your dice.

Make 4 - a variation on the above game, this time you dont score when you place a counter, instead the object is to place four counters in a row. You can do this horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The first to Make 4 is the winner.

Both of these games can be limited by setting a maximum number of turns. You can adjust the computer skill level so its less likely to score highly.

Blocked - your spaceship is stranded and you need to recover enough fuel to get you home. The fuel has been scattered amongst an asteroid field - you need to pick one asteroid at a time to recover the fuel. Each time you pick an asteroid, all other asteroids in the same line are removed for the other player, making it all the more important to choose carefully. If you take on too much fuel, your ship will be too heavy and youll lose the game. Beat the computer to the target and youll win.
